In the ritual performance „Benediction I“, five hand-gilded baseball bats are staged as symbols of resistance. A solemn procession of archaic figures carries the objects into the sacred space, accompanied by banners, chants and a sermon on art as the only truth and redemption. The bats represent problems that need to be smashed - not as weapons, but as manifestations of a new future. They are solemnly blessed to reinforce freedom and equality. The audience is part of the ceremony, receives the blessing and is involved in the act of transformation.

Art transforms - it not only depicts, but actively intervenes in reality. The performance took place as the opening ceremonie of the annual BBK exhibition in Hamburg, Germany.

Performers: Maison Douce, Victoria Hempel, Birgit, Ingo and Paula Hauss.
