Art Without Boundaries: Toons One artist interview

Today’s interview guest is Toons One, an international artist, style writer, custom painter, fine line pinstriper, and a pioneering graffiti artist since 1982.

Toons One, born in Los Angeles, CA, as Anthony Martin discovered his passion for art at the young age of three, inspired by the vibrant LA street mural scene of the early '70s and his creative mother. His journey through the arts has been as diverse as it is impressive, spanning graffiti, DJing, and popping/locking during the explosion of the hip-hop scene in the early '80s. Toons One’s work embodies a rich imagination and soulful interpretation of everyday life, capturing the cultural essence of the world around us.

Throughout his nearly 30-year career, Toons has mastered various techniques and mediums, from oil-based sign paints and acrylics to spray cans and automotive paints. His creations range from album cover illustrations, pinstriping, graffiti murals, and skateboard graphics to sculptures, custom bicycles, and furniture design. His projects have taken him around the globe, collaborating with numerous companies and participating in both US and international exhibitions.

Toons’ philosophy transcends the mere act of creating art. He sees creativity as a priceless and irreplaceable element of society, one that when cultivated, leaves behind timeless reflections that inspire and captivate. As a self-proclaimed student, teacher, and master, Toons One continues to explore the inner mysteries of self, radiating his unique light and making every moment of his creative journey an incredible experience.
